Project description

Sustainable school extension in Frankfurt

PURLINE at the Ackermannschule / Bürgermeister-Grimm-Schule

With the extension to the Ackermannschule, the City of Frankfurt is once again setting an example for sustainable educational buildings. The two-storey new building, constructed using a resource-efficient timber modular design, creates additional space for all-day operation and adds a canteen, classrooms, childcare facilities and administrative offices to the existing school campus. The modular construction method enabled a short build time and combines sustainability with high functionality – an important contribution to the city’s growing educational infrastructure.

In keeping with this holistic building concept, the sustainable polyurethane flooring PURLINE was chosen. Its durable and health-promoting properties make it the ideal solution for high-traffic educational buildings.

Designed for everyday school life

Schools place high demands on floor coverings. They must withstand daily wear and tear, be easy to maintain and, at the same time, contribute to a pleasant learning environment. PURLINE impresses with its robust surface, high walking comfort and ease of cleaning. Furthermore, the resilient flooring reduces impact noise, thereby promoting a quiet atmosphere in classrooms, corridors and communal areas.

Its low-emission and healthy-living qualities further contribute to a healthy indoor climate – an important aspect for pupils and teachers alike.

Timeless design for modern educational architecture

With its ‘Silver Grey’ finish, the flooring blends harmoniously into the clean architectural style of the timber modular construction. The understated colour scheme emphasises the bright, welcoming design of the interiors and creates a timeless backdrop for the vibrant daily life of the school.

The Ackermann School is part of a series of sustainable school construction projects through which Frankfurt is further developing its educational landscape. PURLINE was also used in the extension to the Charles-Hallgarten School – a further example of how durable material solutions complement modern educational architecture effectively.
