Project description

PURLINE creates a sense of well-being. As soon as you step into Dr Miriam Fischer’s dental practice in Nuremberg, you are immediately struck by a feeling of comfort. This is because the entrance area, including the waiting room, feels more like a private living room than a dental practice. The pleasant atmosphere is down to the modern décor, featuring stylish furniture and lighting, which are shown off to great effect by the calm, concrete-look of the flooring laid across an area of around 250 m².

The design concept was devised by 12:43 Architects, who specialise in designing dental practices. “It is particularly important to our clients to alleviate patients’ fears of unpleasant experiences at the dentist,” explains architect Lars-Erik Prokop. “That is why we want to create an ambience in which patients can feel 100 per cent at ease. Nevertheless, a floor covering must be suitable for everyday use in a dental practice.” PURLINE delivers on both counts. The wineo 1500 chip silver grey roll flooring was used. With its subtle grain and seamless appearance, the floor looks almost indistinguishable from real concrete. The soft shade of grey harmonises beautifully with the black-framed glass walls and doors in an industrial design.

At the same time, PURLINE meets the highest hygiene standards: the flooring is easy to clean. All seams have been welded to create a hygienic, seamless surface. Furthermore, the flooring proves to be extremely hard-wearing and durable – both against mechanical wear caused by shoes and castor-mounted chairs, and against RKI/VAH-listed disinfectants. The resilient surface of Purline is gentle on the joints of patients and staff and improves room acoustics. Its sound-absorbing properties help to create a quiet atmosphere, particularly at peak times when many patients are in the premises at the same time. Thanks to its excellent rollability, wheelchairs and pushchairs can also be moved easily across the flooring.

PURLINE is a resilient, PVC-free polyurethane floor covering. It is based on ecuran, a high-performance composite material produced predominantly from vegetable oils such as rapeseed or castor oil and naturally occurring mineral components such as chalk – without the addition of chlorine, plasticisers or solvents. The material does not release any harmful substances into the indoor air and is completely odourless. Various environmental labels and certifications attest to its safety. PURLINE not only bears the Blue Angel label but also holds the Cradle to Cradle Silver certificate, which designates the flooring as particularly sustainable. In line with the Cradle to Cradle concept, every stage of production is ‘made in Germany’.
