PURLINE 1500 at the Hyperion Hotel Salzburg. Salzburg is always worth a visit: nestled within an idyllic mountain panorama, the old town centre stretches along both banks of the Salzach, with its winding alleyways and romantic coffee houses. To the north lies the Neustadt district, characterised by stately villas from the Gründerzeit era. One such example is the Palais Faber, a complex of buildings in the Viennese Ringstrasse style, where, since July 2022, the Hyperion Hotel Salzburg has been reviving the splendour of days gone by. The atmosphere of the hotel is characterised by the harmonious interplay of historic design elements and modern comfort – stylishly arranged on PURLINE by wineo, which adds the finishing touch to the Gründerzeit ambience.

The conversion of the ‘Faberhaus’ into a 4-star hotel was carried out in close consultation with the Federal Monuments Office, in accordance with architectural plans. The Austrian design firm Unykat Interior Design was responsible for the interior design. The flooring played a key role in the concept: on the one hand, it needed to impress with an authentic look; on the other, it had to be hard-wearing and durable. In the hotel sector in particular, the floor must still look its best even after many years – without any signs of wear, discolouration or warping. The choice fell on Purline – a joint-friendly, robust and low-maintenance flooring solution. The wineo 1500 wood XS planks, designed for gluing, are perfect for renovation and refurbishment projects thanks to their low installation height of just 2.5 mm, whilst also offering immense creative freedom in terms of installation and combination options.

Laid in a herringbone pattern based on a historical design, they cover a total area of approximately 3,000 square metres throughout the entire building – from high-traffic areas such as the lobby, restaurant and hotel bar right through to the Executive Lounge. All 115 guest rooms and suites have also been fitted with Purline wineo 1500 wood XS Pure Black. This extensive use highlights the flooring’s numerous positive qualities in commercial settings. In addition to its high durability, it is also characterised by its excellent rollability: heavy luggage trolleys and serving trolleys can be moved easily across it without leaving visible tracks. The resilient surface absorbs impact noise, thereby ensuring pleasant room acoustics. In the guest rooms and suites, the planks are particularly impressive due to their warmth underfoot and hygienic properties: hotel guests can walk on the flooring barefoot with complete peace of mind.

Another argument in favour of Purline organic flooring is its high resistance to soiling: the flooring is easy to clean, saving both time and money. Over its entire lifespan, the costs of Purline organic flooring are significantly lower than those of other floor coverings.

What may come as a surprise to some guests given its authentic wood-effect appearance is that Purline organic flooring is a high-quality polyurethane floor covering. It is based on ecuran, a high-performance composite material produced predominantly from vegetable oils such as rapeseed or castor oil and naturally occurring mineral components such as chalk, without the addition of chlorine, plasticisers or solvents. The material does not release any harmful substances into the indoor air and is odourless.

Manufacturer Windmöller attaches the utmost importance to sustainability, both in production and in the sourcing of raw materials. In line with the Cradle-to-Cradle concept, materials, products and corporate responsibility are assessed in terms of their overall environmental impact. This also means that all production stages are ‘made in Germany’, which guarantees short supply chains.

This outstanding environmental performance is confirmed by various eco-labels – foremost among them the Cradle-to-Cradle Silver certificate, which designates Purline as particularly sustainable. In addition, there are other well-known labels such as the Blue Angel and the TÜV ProfiCert, as well as numerous country-specific certifications. Purline also makes a positive contribution to the Breem, WELL and DGNB building certifications.
