Sustainable flooring design at the ‘Haus Benjamin’ nursery in Heusweiler

The construction of the new ‘Haus Benjamin’ nursery in Heusweiler has created a modern educational and childcare facility that offers children a bright, safe and inspiring place to play and learn. The project forms part of a forward-looking intergenerational concept developed by the Sisters’ Association: situated right next to the ‘Haus Antonius’ care home for the elderly, the nursery promotes interaction between young and old through shared communal areas and creates space for a vibrant sense of community.

Sustainability, functionality and durability were key considerations in the choice of materials. For the flooring, the sustainable polyurethane flooring PURLINE was selected. A total of around 1,130 m² of wineo 1500 was installed. This comprised 963 m² of the ‘Royal Chestnut Desert’ design in the ‘wood XL’ format, as well as around 165 m² of ‘Apple Green’ in roll format. A particular design feature is the staircase finished in Apple Green, which blends harmoniously into the colour scheme whilst adding a fresh design accent.

With the Royal Chestnut Desert finish, the wood effect lends a warm, natural feel. The authentic wood look creates a welcoming atmosphere and complements the nursery’s overall cosy design concept.

The Apple Green finish deliberately adds fresh accents. The vibrant shade of green helps with wayfinding, particularly on the stairs, brings colour to the building and emphasises the modern character of the facility.
