Seniors residential park at Fuchsberg

“Junge Pflege” is fitted with PURLINE design flooring from wineo. Living in community! This is the philosophical ethos that the “Seniorenwohnpark am Fuchsberg” in Ganderkesee, near Bremen, upholds for its residents – and lives up to it every day. The residential and care complex, comprising several buildings, brings together assisted living in one- and two-bedroom flats, residential care, day care, home care and a therapy centre. Integrated into this concept of intergenerational care for people in need of support is a recently completed, separate new building dedicated to the ‘Young Care’ programme. Two very high-quality, resilient floor coverings from wineo were used here; these plank-style products, which are easy to install, were fully bonded to the subfloor (screed) and, with a build-up height of just 2.5 mm, are particularly suitable for refurbishment projects, extremely robust and easy to maintain.

Around six million euros were invested to create a care concept for young people in need of care that is unique in Germany on this scale. Across approximately 3,200 square metres of floor space spread over three floors, 66 care places have been set up for young people who require care and support due to illness, accident or other circumstances. Depending on the extent of their physical limitations, they are able to lead a largely self-determined and self-organised life in six residential groups and their own apartments, ranging in size from 25 to 35 square metres.

PURLINE – healthy for living, hard-wearing, cost-effective

The ‘responsibility towards the community’ implicit in the facility’s philosophy is also reflected in the choice of flooring selected by the Clasen architectural practice in Bremen for the new building. For just as unique as the care concept is the sustainable PURLINE from wineo, which was laid across 300 square metres in the living areas. PURLINE is the world’s first permanently elastic organic polyurethane flooring, manufactured predominantly from renewable raw materials; thanks to its positive performance characteristics, it provides the ideal foundation for healthy indoor air and sustainable, comfortable living. The natural wood look of the special ‘Malmoe Pine’ design also lends the rooms a friendly atmosphere and contributes to the residents’ well-being.

PURLINE impressed the operators and the architect above all due to its sustainability and financial benefits, which, amongst other things, were a key deciding factor in favour of this product: A permanent reduction in fixed costs of up to 30 per cent (according to a study by the Pfiff Institute, compared with conventional, resilient flooring), achieved through savings in water, cleaning products and the time spent on maintenance.

In addition to the positive cost-benefit analysis, PURLINE impressed with its unique combination of material properties: its ‘Made in Germany’ manufacturing process deliberately avoids the use of chlorine, plasticisers or solvents. Added to this are its almost 100 per cent resilience, its extreme durability (service class 43) and long service life, as well as its authentic wood design with a natural look and feel.

For the approximately 500 square metres of circulation areas, utility rooms and communal spaces, a wineo design floor in plank format (1200 x 180 mm) was used in the rustic, dark, on-trend ‘Century Oak’ design. This design flooring is manufactured exclusively with phthalate-free plasticisers and, thanks to its PU surface finish on the 0.7 mm wear layer, is extremely easy to maintain and also very hard-wearing (NK 34/43).

Both types of flooring from the manufacturer bear the CE mark and comply with the quality guidelines of TFI-TÜV ProfiCert as well as other internationally recognised certifications such as Blue Angel, EPD and GreenGuard Gold. The PURLINE has already received several awards from architects.
