What is a skirting board?

A clean wall finish with skirting boards is not only a visual benefit and particularly practical for hiding unsightly cables. It also results in an optimally closed surface that is easy to clean and protects the wall from dirt and knocks. In addition, the skirting board hides the gap between the panel and the wall, in the case of a floating flooring installation.

The wineo range of accessories has skirting boards for all design requirements and rooms. The skirtings are available in different shapes and in various colours. In addition to a wide range of skirting boards with matching decor, the wineo accessories range also offers you single-colour skirting boards.

Skirting boards for laminate, design flooring & PURLINE organic flooring

wineo skirtings with cable channels are available in different shapes and with a wide range of colours. In addition to a wide range of matching skirtings, which are matched to the decors and wooden floorings, the wineo range of accessories also offers you single-colour skirtings, such as in the colours stainless steel and white. The single-colour skirtings in a plain white shade in particular can be universally combined with all designs and go particularly well with our stone decors, concrete looks and other decors for which we do not offer a matching skirting board. Our waterproof skirting board deserves a special mention here. The base material of this skirting board is a plastic carrier that cannot absorb moisture. Therefore, this skirting board is also suitable for use in damp rooms due to its water resistance.

The necessary expansion joint between the floor covering and the wall is also taken into account by all of our skirtings and covers it perfectly. All skirtings are particularly easy to install - thanks to our clip fastening system.

Frequently asked questions FAQ about skirting boards

Skirting board, skirting or also baseboard: Anyone who installs laminate or vinyl flooring will stumble across these terms sooner or later. They refer to strips that serve to cover the transition between the wall and floor and at the same time hide expansion joints. The choice is huge: Which baseboard material should I choose - MDF, ABS or aluminium? Are skirtings necessary at all? And what do I have to bear in mind when installing skirting boards?

We provide the answers.

What is the difference between skirting boards and baseboards?

There is no difference between skirting boards and baseboards. The products are ultimately sold under a different name. The functions remain the same.

Why do I need skirting boards?

First and foremost, skirting boards maintain a beautiful room appearance all around. Of course, a skirting board also protects against external influences, such as when mopping or vacuuming. This means that painting, wallpaper or painted walls are not damaged. In addition, the skirting board ensures that no moisture runs behind the floor covering when mopping.

Are skirtings necessary?

We recommend always using skirting boards. This creates a beautiful wall finish and protects the wall as well as the floor covering from water damage, dirt or other soiling.

What tools are needed for the installation of skirting boards?

For the installation of skirting boards, you need a cross-cut saw, a drill, a cordless screwdriver, screws and dowels and, of course, the clips to attach the skirting boards.

What basic material are skirtings made of?

wineo skirtings are made of either MDF.  The following materials are included:

MDF: A "medium density fibreboard" made from chopped wood that has been glued together with resin.

In which designs are skirting boards available?

Whether timeless, classic or completely modern - skirting boards are available in many designs so that they can be effortlessly integrated into any room design.

The wineo range of accessories offers skirtings with cable routing for all design requirements and rooms.

What accessories are available for skirtings?

We offer an extensive range of accessories for our skirtings. Starting with the installation, we offer skirting clips for attaching the skirting board.

To enhance the overall look and cover the transitions between the individual skirtings, we offer self-adhesive connection pieces, inside corners, external corners and end caps.

How do you hide abutting skirting boards or corners?

There are self-adhesive connection pieces for the transition between two skirtings that meet in a straight line.

For skirting boards that meet in a corner, there are inside and external corners that are self-adhesive.

Self-adhesive end caps are available for the end of a skirting board.

How are skirtings fitted?

For a quick and uncomplicated installation of wineo skirting boards, we recommend the clip fastening system. The first step is to cut the skirting boards to size, this will indicate where to attach the fixing clips to the wall.

Then place the clip on the wall and mark the drilling points on the wall with a pencil. Refer to the installation instructions on the clip box for the distances. The distances should not be too large so that the skirting boards do not detach from the wall between two drilling points, but lie flat against the wall throughout.

Next, drill the holes and screw the clip to the wall with the plugs and screws provided. Before you attach the skirting board to the clip from above, you should lay any cables sensibly in the room and use the intelligent cable guide of the skirting board fastening system for this. Once the cables have been laid appropriately, simply place the skirting board onto the clip until the skirting board clicks into place and the bottom edge of the skirting board rests neatly on the floor covering.

Finally, the joints of the individual skirtings or inner and outer corners can be covered with caps. These are simply glued to the skirtings with the help of adhesive strips.
