The ideal combination for building entrances – wineo PURLINE and clean-off zones. In entrance areas, floor coverings are subjected to extremely heavy wear and tear caused by dirt and moisture being tracked in. As part of a modernisation project for the entrance area to its Plant 1, flooring manufacturer Windmöller prioritised the highest quality and sustainability in its choice of flooring, opting to install the most durable and wear-resistant product from its resilient flooring range: wineo PURLINE 1500 fusion.

PURLINE is all-natural, rich in design and high-performance, combining functionality, design and sustainability in an exemplary manner. The 2.5 mm-thick organic flooring in the ‘cool.three’ design was combined with a 3-zone clean-off system from the manufacturer emco. The clean-off products help to preserve the flooring’s value, and maintenance costs for floor cleaning have consequently been significantly reduced.

Unbeatably sustainable – extremely hard-wearing

The basis of the concrete-look wineo PURLINE is the sustainable, high-performance composite material ecuran – Windmöller’s polyurethane – which is produced predominantly from vegetable oils such as rapeseed or castor oil and naturally occurring mineral components such as chalk. This permanently elastic flooring is extremely hard-wearing (NK 23/34/43), easy to maintain, UV-resistant, odourless, suitable for damp areas, particularly cost-effective and is manufactured without the use of chlorine, plasticisers or solvents. It is perfectly suited for installation in all high-traffic commercial areas and has been awarded the prestigious ‘Cradle to Cradle Silver’. ‘Cradle to Cradle’ is an international quality standard that certifies a product’s biological or technical recyclability and its high level of sustainability throughout the production chain.

Over its entire service life, PURLINE can deliver cost savings of up to 30 per cent compared with conventional resilient flooring (according to a study by the Pfiff Institute), and with a recovery rate of almost 100 per cent, it meets the most stringent requirements for durability. The permanently elastic surface also makes this bio-based flooring a low-noise solution that ensures pleasant room acoustics in all areas of application – from the healthcare sector (health, rehabilitation and care) through to public buildings and education, hotels and hospitality, as well as the retail and transport sectors.

Entrance mat products help preserve property value

By combining three different, high-quality entrance mat products from emco, the amount of dirt and moisture entering the building was reduced by over 50 per cent, whilst the costs associated with cleaning the floor were significantly reduced. The well-designed 3-zone clean-off system reliably captures the majority of dirt particles and moisture before they are carried into the building, thus offering optimum protection for the light grey concrete finish of the floor surface. The length of the clean-off system also played a significant role in reducing the amount of dirt that would otherwise have been brought in. Ideally, a clean-off system should extend over a walking distance of eight to ten steps, starting in the outdoor area and continuing into the building. The three-zone clean-off system has a further advantage: it prevents slipping accidents, which are usually caused by dirt and moisture on floor coverings.
